The Leadership Evolution Podcast

Podcast cover with a man walking towards bright light in a forest path.

The Evolution of a Founder

The Leadership Evolution Podcast explores the journey of founders and leaders as they grow beyond the build and step into legacy. Hosted by Luke Mickelson, this show dives into Founder’s Syndrome, leadership growth, and what it takes to build something that outlives you.

Inspirational message glowing in a forest at sunset.

From Build to Legacy

It’s the courage to separate who you are from what you built.
Build What Outlives You means releasing control, trusting others, and allowing the mission to take on a life of its own—so your legacy is not your presence, but your impact.

A Fading Founder

This is the space the Leadership Evolution Podcast explores what it really feels like when growth requires you to step back.

It’s the emotional side of leadership: identity, relevance, and the challenge of letting go. Not stepping away…
but stepping into a new role that allows the mission to outgrow you.

Build What Outlives You.

In the premiere episode of The Leadership Evolution Podcast, Luke Mickelson sits down with Christopher Stout for an honest conversation about Founder’s Syndrome, leadership transitions, and the challenge of separating your identity from the organization you built. Christopher shares powerful insights on navigating change, embracing evolution, and building a legacy that lasts beyond the founder.

On this episode of The Leadership Evolution Podcast, Luke sits down with Christopher Quigley, an interdisciplinary artist and designer whose work explores transformation, impermanence, and the collapse of systems. Drawing from more than 20 years of experience in public art, sculpture, and immersive installations, Christopher shares how his work challenges people to confront difficult societal issues, question established norms, and discover what can emerge through change. Together, they discuss creativity, resilience, and the power of transformation to inspire awareness and meaningful action.

Bryan Blackmon is the founder of Crab Crew Life, a high-accountability transformation platform built to help people move beyond survival mode and create lasting change through disciplined action and authentic accountability. His journey to leadership was forged through extraordinary adversity, including addiction, homelessness, and the difficult process of rebuilding his life from absolute zero.

Rather than relying on motivational slogans or quick-fix solutions, Bryan developed a structured methodology centered on daily execution, personal ownership, and behavioral consistency. What began as his own path to recovery and transformation has evolved into a global community where individuals challenge one another to become stronger, more resilient, and more intentional leaders.

Today, Bryan is passionate about helping others break free from limiting beliefs, embrace responsibility, and discover what real leadership looks like—not in theory, but in practice. His work serves as a powerful reminder that leadership begins with leading yourself first.

Larry O'Toole is the founder of Gentle Giant Moving Company, which he grew from a single truck into one of America's most respected moving companies by prioritizing character, exceptional people, and a strong workplace culture. His leadership philosophy centers on the belief that great organizations are built by hiring the right people and protecting culture as they grow. In his book, Heavy Lifting: Building a Business With a Giant Heart, he shares practical lessons on leadership, team building, and creating organizations that stand the test of time.
